VICTORIAN husband and wife harness racing trainer and driver Jack and Karen Kendall were confident their Tasmanian Derby contender That’s So Irish would win at his first start in the state in Hobart tonight (Sunday) and take winning form into next week’s Tasmanian Derby.
But instead of Thats So Irish it was travelling companion Leighton Buzzard that stole the show.
That’s So Irish made a few mistakes in his race and had to settle for fourth behind star Tasmanian three-year-old Quastor Centurion.
However, Leighton Buzzard gave his rivals a pacing lesson leading all the way to score convincingly from Tis’ Holly and Stone Skipper.
Leighton Buzzard is well bred and despite having only one win to his credit from nine starts he was backed in to start equal favourite ($2.80) with Daisy Adele.
Trainer Jack Kendall said Leighton Buzzard had enormous potential and he was not surprised by the ease of his win.
