BUZZING ALONG was one of Tasmania’s most promising three-year-olds two seasons back but she lost her way last season and at one stage it looked as if her racing career might be over sooner than later.

But she showed a glimpse of the form that she showed two seasons back when a luckless fifth of 11 in an open handicap over 1150 metres at Devonport last Tuesday week.

Buzzing Along hadn’t moved out of third gear when she was looking for a way clear in the home straight and ended up going to the line under a hold with apprentice Rhonda Mangan aboard.

She hit the line on the heels of the placegetters and only 2.2 lengths from the winner Innocent Gamble.

The mare has had only 20 starts and if she has turned the corner she will be very hard to beat in the Tapeta Footings Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1150 metres (race 7) at Spreyton on Sunday.

Buzzing Along has won only three times but she went within a head of defeating her champion stablemate Lady Lynnette in the $100,000 weight-for-age Vamos Stakes over 1400 metres in 2011.

It will be her fourth start this preparation and she has the services of senior rider Patrick Keane who has been riding in top form of late.

She carried only 51 kg last start courtesy of Mangan’s claim compared to the 55.5 kg she will lug on Sunday

The main dangers appear to be prolific placegetter Sandeep (1), in-form mare Reach The Moon (8) and Gea Force (2) that showed a return to form last start when a game second to Innocent Gamble in the same race in which Buzzing Along finished fifth.
