POPULAR Rokeby-based trainer Ian Callinan scored a double in Hobart last week when litter brothers Callamac Kid and Callamac Ace scored impressive wins.
Callamac Kid demolished his rivals in a juvenile over 461 metres, running slick sectionals to stop the clock at 26.35.
He held sway over Regent Meteor and Sirrom’s Choice, much to the delight of the punters who backed him in to start the second elect at $3.20 behind the favourite Poa’s Champ.
It was an impressive win but not quite as impressive as that of his litter brother.
Callamac Ace missed the starts from box seven while Official Speedy assumed control in front with the well backed Colma ($5 into $3.50) hot in pursuit carrying the red vest.
But Callamac Ace ($1.60) slipped into overdrive at the top turn and quickly hauled in the leaders.
After a stoush with Colma he drew clear and went on to defeat that dog by over two lengths with Official Speedy a distant third.
