TRAINER Barry Campbell will weigh up his options about which way to go with his talented sprinter Bionic Star following the gelding’s impressive win in a 3YO handicap over 1200m at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
With the state’s leading rider Brendon McCoull aboard, Bionic Star showed his customary early speed to lead and despite dipping when he hit a soft spot 700m from home he stayed balanced and held sway by two lengths turning for home.
When McCoull called on the gelded son of Bianconi at the top of the straight he dug deep and went on to score comfortably from Huon Knight with the favourite Anelene a close-up third.
Campbell is undecided whether to target the Tasmanian Guineas over 1600 metres or keep the gelding at sprint journeys with the 1100m Carbine Club 3YO on Derby Day and the 3YO Classic over 1200m soon after.
