BRIGHTON trainer Royston Carr celebrated his first double on the new Tapeta track at Spreyton last month and he will be hoping the same two horses can provide the same result at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Sunday.
Two-year-old Mister John and his half-sister Miss Elizabeth will tackle the first and fourth races respectively on Sunday and if they take their last-start form into their races they will be very hard to beat.
Mister John debut at Spreyton over 1000 metres and despite racing outside of the leader throughout he was too strong for his rivals and hit the line like a very good horse.
He is by Strada from former top class race mare Kat’s Clause that also was trained by Carr.
The colt has been working well and connections are confident he can keep his unbeaten record intact.
Miss Elizabeth (x Lucky Owners) was having her first run back from a spell when she gave her rivals a galloping lesson in a maiden over 900 metres, scoring by over two lengths from Super Broadband that has since franked the form by wining a maiden convincingly at his subsequent outings.
While Mister John looks the better and safer bet of the pair, he won’t have it all his own way with last-start winner Little River Girl engaged along with first-starter Not Another Red that has been impressive in winning two trials, the latest by 10 lengths over Count The Stars that placed on debut in Hobart last Sunday.
Miss Elizabeth will have to be right on her game in her race with top weight Westering Home from the powerful David and Scott Brunton stable resuming from a spell but has good first-up form.
Westering Home is reported to be working well and his only win was over 1100 metres on debut.
Ski Dubai has a win and two lacings from his past five starts and Mankini Man would only have to recapture his form from two starts back when an impressive winner in Hobart to be a live chance
