Trainer Adam Trinder has set his sights on the two Listed two-year-old features with his exciting youngster Miss Charlie Brown following another impressive performance in Launceston on Friday.
Miss Charlie Brown won the prestigious Alfa Bowl on debut last month and it was almost a mirror image effort on Friday with the filly coming from behind to win the Alexandra Plate over 1100 metres.
Trinder said he had a decent opinion of the daughter of Myboycharlie from the moment he galloped her on the Spreyton track.
“On debut she was very new, but she learnt a lot from that first start and that was evident today,” Trinder said.
“She travelled well and ambled up to them on the corner, but I loved her extension over the last 100 metres when Bulent (Muhcu) asked her for a little bit more, she lowered and lengthened in her action.
“That is a trait I have seen from all our better horses over the years, so this filly is starting to fit into that mould.
“I expect her to continue to improve as we head towards the better two-year-old events.”
Trinder said Miss Charlie Brown would most likely go straight to the $100,000 Listed Elwick Stakes in Hobart on 24 January, after which she will line up in the $150,000 Gold Sovereign Stakes in Launceston 2-1/2 weeks later.
