CLAN MCLEOD gave her connections reason to seriously consider targeting the Devonport Cup following an impressive win in a benchmark 78 race over 1650 metres at Tapeta Park Spreyton yesterday.

The John Keys-trained four-year-old mare raced on the pace and was kept company for most of the journey by Monsieur Feraud but at the business end of proceedings she showed her class by staving off all challenges over the final 200 metres.

The win was her third in the space of two months with a fourth in a 2100-metre race in Hobart at her previous outing her only blemish in the mare’s past four starts.

Keys says he is keen to aim Clan McLeod at the Devonport Cup to be run on January 11.
