WELL bred juvenile pacer Cloudy Delight laid claim to the state’s top two-year-old filly title when she treated a strong field with contempt in the Premier’s Blue Bonnet over 1680 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Sunday night.
Cloudy Delight showed blistering early speed to lead from gate four and once in front driver-trainer Christian Salter ensured a solid tempo and turning for home he released his grip on the reins and the filly bounded clear.
Cloudy Delight (Bettors Delight-Cloudy Road) went on to score by over three metres from Margin Girl with outsider Mahesa three metres away third.
It was the filly’s first start since winning the Betfair Sweepstakes fillies’ final in Hobart in mid April.
Cloudy Delight has started only four times and has the impressive record of three wins and a second to her credit.
She was bred by Noel and Marlene Salter who have been one of the state’s most successful breeders for the past decade.
The Salters also bred this year’s Betfair Sweepstakes colts and gelding’s winner Punt Road Disco.
