AS most Tasmanian racing industry stakeholders and participants are aware the State Government’s sale of TOTE Tasmania to Tatts Group has included the Hobart-based radio station that now operates as part of the Radio Sport National network.
The sale of TOTE was expected to bring about changes to the broadcasting of racing inTasmania.
RadioTAB confirmed this week that it will broadcast the local Tasmanian Turf Talk program, that has previously aired on Tote Sport Radio (now RSN) and co-hosted by Colin McNiff and Greg Mansfield, each Sunday but in a new timeslot of 7.30-8am.
The half-hour Tasmanian harness and greyhound shows that also were broadcast on Sundays 8.30-9.30am on RSN (Tas) will be replaced by a 30-minute national greyhound show that is set to be hosted by the race callers from SA, QueenslandandTasmania.
Harness also will have a show with content provided by the SA, Qld and Tas harness callers.
It is envisaged that the majority of race meetings that are presently broadcast on RSN in Tasmania will continue to be heard on RadioTAB.
There will be no changes to the bands on which these race meetings are broadcast in Tasmania with 1080AM covering the southern region, 1008AM in the North and the existing FM bands utilised in the North-West Coast.
Wagering and broadcast coverage will be provided on all Tasmanian events covered by Sky. If it’s not on Sky then RadioTAB will not, at this stage be providing a broadcast service and Tattsbet will not be offering an ‘off-course’ betting service.
However, Tattsbet will provide a ‘local tote’ (on-course) service to these non-Sky meetings.
Tasracing will continue to proactively work with the Tatts Group to optimise outcomes for the Tasmanian racing industry during the transition.
