TALENTED sprinter Concrete Johnny gave his Brighton trainer Terry Evans an overdue win when he scored convincingly in a benchmark 62 handicap over his pet distance of 100 metres at Spreyton last Sunday.
Concrete Johnny was clearly the class horse of the field having won five races compared to the remaining six runners that had won 11 races between them.
But he was given a weight to match his previous success of 62.5 kg under the rating scale but that was eased with his rider Raquel Clark claiming four kilograms.
Clark delivered a classic ride and the God’s Own gelding did the rest.
Clark settled Concrete Johnny second behind the pace maker Royal Bluff but when she eased the four-year-old off the fence to challenge turning for home the end result was never in doubt.
Listen to what trainer Terry Evans had to say about Concrete Johnny’s win.
