TRAINER Charlie Goggin is aiming his stable star Conquering towards next week’s Kyneton Cup in Victoria despite the gelding’s failure in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley last Saturday.
Conquering went into the Crystal Mile on the back of a courageous second in the Seymour Cup but last Saturday’s race ended up a speed battle that left the Tasmanian turf hero on a limb from his wide gate and out of contention before they reached the half-way mark.
The $90,000 Kyneton Cup will be run next Wednesday (Nov 3) over 2000 metres and Goggin believes Conquering may be better suited at that journey.
