After a string of second placings, Flowery Gully trainer Michael Louth will be hoping Telfer can end a run of minor placings when he lines up in the Synectic Devonport Grade 4 in Devonport on Tuesday afternoon.
The Fabregas – Chandalar dog has been runner up in his last three outings and has been ultra-consistent this campaign finishing in the top three places in 13 efforts, including a hat-trick of wins in late July and early August.
Telfer has been runner up in his last three outings, the most recent in Hobart on Monday night when defeated .75 of a length behind Gee Whiz Archie who recorded 19.76 for the 340-metre trip.
Coming up with box three for Tuesday’s assignment, Telfer’s main dangers appear to be Hi Sky who is a Hobart winner two starts ago, Anndar Winx who has drawn the red box and was placed on the track two starts back.
River Bank, Go Shorty and Roulette also have strong claims.
The card kicks off at 12:12 where Midland’s Magic has been installed as the pre-post favourite from box two.
The Michael Stringer owned and trained chaser hasn’t raced since a fifth placing back in March 2019 and has had two stewards trials since, the most recent on 10 September in Hobart where he covered the 340 metres in 19.62s.
Tasmanian Derby and Oaks
The Tasmanian Derby and Oaks were held in Launceston on Monday.
Casino Ace was able to lead from box two and raced away from his rivals late to score by three lengths over Kintyre and Tah Matt in 30.03s
It was the sixth career win at start 23 for the Wayne Howells trained and owned chaser who is a part of the Fernando Bale – Avondale Quenn litter that was whelped in February 2018.
In the Sires On Ice Tasmanian Oaks it was the Ben Englund-trained Wynburn Lethal continuing her dominance of feature races in recent months.
From box three the Dyna Double One – Wynburn Arrow bitch led all the way to score in 29.79s, two lengths clear over Rachael and Amy Cora.
