Trainer John Blacker expects his maiden winner Coriace to breeze his way to top grade.
Blacker made the bold statement after the four-year-old gelding scored an emphatic win in the New Year Day 3YO and Upward Maiden Plate over 1200 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight (Wednesday).
Coriace (Brendon McCoull) settled midfield and was allowed to creep into the race three-wide without cover from the 600 metre peg.
When McCoull called on the lightly raced gelded son of Aussie Rules he claimed the leaders and went on to score comfortably from Stella Etoile with It’s Flash Al third, just ahead of Crabby Ness and first starter Sound Bar.
Blacker recently relocated back to Tasmania after a two-year stint of training at Seymour in country Victoria.
