VETERAN trainer Keith Nichols doesn’t mess about when it comes to moving his racing stock.
After his promising young dog Cosmic Lad notched his first win from only five starts in a juvenile over 340 metres in Hobart last Thursday night Nichols declared the son of Cosmic Rumble was “for sale”.
Cosmic Lad showed good early speed to vie for the lead to the home turn and then knuckled down to his task over the concluding stages to stave off all challengers in the run to the line.
“He has plenty of early speed, in act he’s led I all of his races so this short race tonight was his race for the taking,” Nichols said.
Cosmic Lad is owned and raced by Pat Sofra who has been sending dogs to Nichols for over three years and with great success.
“Pat (Sofra) is a pleasure to train for and he is keen to turn the dogs over.”
“All but one of his dogs that we’ve sold here in Tassie have won races and surprisingly it has been the most expensive (portico) that has yet to win a race.”
“We’re asking $2500 for Cosmic Lad and I’m sure at that price he’ll be sold sooner than later,” he said.
Cosmic Lad, by Cosmic Rumble from Pretty Larkhill, is a good natured dog that Nichols says is a pleasure to have in the kennel.
