STOWPORT trainer Kelvin Hamilton could be spending a lot of time in the winner’s circle courtesy of his promising five-year-old Couple Of Cowboys that made it two wins from as many starts at Tapeta Park Spreyton today.
Couple Of Cowboys (James Nevin) won on debut last month in a strong maiden and he repeated the dose today in what could be seen down the track as a good form race.
Couple Of Cowboys ($7.10) was well placed in the run setting just off the speed from a good gate while Divine Decree showed her usual early speed to lead with Merits Respect at the leader’s girth.
Merits Respect hit the front in the home straight but when Nevin called on his charge for the supreme effort the gelded son of Aristotle-Encosta Mia (x Encosta de Lago) moved to challenge and he went on to defeat Merits Respect by almost a length with We Say two lengths away third.
