SUPER star Damek continued on his winning way in Hobart last week to snare a heat of the Easter Cup.
In a small field of six Damek began fairly from box two but had the rail and the lead at the 340-metre boxes.
But it wasn’t until well into the home straight that he was able to shrug off eventual runner-up Beau Joker.
The Peter Phillips-trained dog’s time however, was good. He stopped the clock at 26.03s and he didn’t appear to handle the shifting surface die to torrential rain.
The remaining Easter Cup heat was taken out by the consistent Sultan’s Swing that flew the lids from box three and gave nothing else a chance on her way to a seven-length win over Victorian-owned Aries and the Tony Dawson-trained Stylish Michael with Damek’s litter brother Daegan sneaking into the final by finishing fourth.
Sultan’s Swing has been in career-best form of late and while Damek will start the short-priced favourite, Ted Medhurst’s bitch will make the final very interesting if Damek encounters any trouble.
The first four placegetters in each of the two heats progressed to this Thursday night’s final.
