Damek’s owner trainer Peter Phillips will be hoping for a clear run in tonight’s Barry Heawood Hobart Thousand Prelude (R6) at Tattersall’s Park.

The champ hasn’t had much luck of late but jumping from the rails should give him a shot at the lead early and that is all he needs.

Beau Joker on his outside jumps well from the lids and may cause some problems for those on his outside.

Two NSW visitors November Digger (Ted Medhurst) and Katsidis (Debbie Cannan) are having their first race here in preparation for next week’s Hobart Thousand Heats and both are capable and experienced performers.

Bluffy Lad (R8) for Bagdad trainer Alison Walker looks to have a fair bit of ability and with his consistency of late should be followed with confidence over the coming months.

Last week’s win over Miss Hetti was good and this son of Big Daddy Cool will only improve with maturity. Hardest to beat will be Whitney’s Rose while Your Time might sneak a place at odds.

Ryno Rules (R3) should score at his first start over the middle distance while punters should follow up on Overeem (R1) and Tree Bandit (R2) after last week’s placings.

Best Bets: R2 No 3 Tree Bandit, R6 No 1 Damek, R8 No 2 Bluffy Lad.

Best E/W: R1 No 3 Overeem, R5 No 5 Megastar Spargo, R9 No 5 Collyn Tiger.
