REIGNING Devonport Cup winner Dark Vito gets his chance to bounce back into the winner’s circle at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight when he lines up from box one in race eight, a grade four event over 461 metres.
Dark Vito has been racing below par at recent outings but this looks an ideal race for the Ted Medhurst-trained dog.
Wyatt’s Will (R2) ran a smart second at Tattersall’s Park last week after an emphatic Devonport win and should run well for Eileen Thomas tonight.
The son of Magic Sprite has only had the three starts and he has shown speed at each outing so jumping from box two should enhance his chances of leading.
Joffa’s Me Mate and Frosty’s Capable look the main dangers.
Lakerville (R4) smashed the track record over the 599-metre trip last week so he only needs to mirror that form to deliver the same result in race four.
The Mick Stringer-trained dog is a maturing type who has been beginning well of late and could lead all the way with Shanlyn Pearl and Rebelation both capable over the distance and are must takes in trifectas and first fours.
Best Bets: R2 No 2 Wyatt’s Will, R4 No 5 Lakerville, R8 No 1 Dark Vito.
Best E/W: R3 No 1 Posh Faith, R5 No 5 Winklea Zipper, R9 No 8 Teemac.
