FORMER Victorian dog Del Feugo could prove to be a handy acquisition to Mick Taylor’s kennel at Bridport following the dog’s impressive Tasmanian debut in a juvenile/maiden over 515 metres Launceston on Monday night.

Del Feugo arrived in Taylor’s kennel last month with modest form on country tracks.

The dog began his career with a maiden qualifying win at Traralgon and followed up with the third at his first race start but after another minor placing his form collapsed with last at his four subsequent outings.

But like many below par performers before him, the Bond-Secret Request dog has taken a shine to Tasmania and will only have to mirror his first effort to keep wining in the coming weeks.

Del Feuge began brilliantly from box two to find the lead and once on the bunny he left his rivals in his wake scoring by almost 10 lengths from Taite’s Star with Carrera a half-length astern.

Del Feugo covered the 515 metres in 35.45 and his sectionals were good. Given it was his first try on the Launceston circuit he should be improved by the outing.
