OUTSTANDING greyhound bitch Demi Cali may have been a surprise omission from the Tasmanian Country Oaks but she delivered the best message possible when she scored an emphatic win in a strong grade four event (452m) on the same card at Devonport today.
Demi Cali jumped well from box eight and after a battle with Double Bogey to the top turn she slipped into overdrive in the home straight and went on to score a comfortable win.
The Ted Medhurst-trained bitch won the Illingworth Classic in Launceston two starts back but when she missed a place at her subsequent outing in Devonport she was made a reserve in the Tasmanian Country Oaks.
It seemed strange that a winner of an open grade classic race two starts prior to a moderately rated country Oaks would be denied a start but the selection conditions were adhered to when making up the Country Oaks field.
Demi Cali is a multiple feature race winner and her record of 11 wins and eight minor placings from 22 starts for stakes of $36,000 is testament to her ability.
