DESPICABLE CRAIG will be out to clinch a berth in the Vets Medley Series final when he steps out in a second-round heat of the series at UBET Park Hobart tonight.
The Brendan Pursell-trained dog scored an impressive win in his first-round heat over 599m last week but he drops back to the sprint distance of 461m tonight.
Despicable Craig has only won two of his 10 starts on the Hobart circuit and he usually needs a bit of luck in his races to emerge triumphant but he usually holds form one he finds it and he will be at cramped odds in his heat (Race 3) tonight.
Stella Act was the fastest of the four heat winners last week over 599 metres and should she begin as well as she did last week she will be the one Despicable Craig will have to run down.
The heats of the Vets Medley Series are races 2-5 with the top eight point scores from the two rounds of heats to progress to the final to be run next week over 599 metres.
