- Deverell has two each-way chances in Devonport.
- Tuesday's card commences at 12:09.
After causing an upset win with Rachael in Monday night’s opening heat of the Steve King Ladies Bracelet in Launceston, Penguin based trainer Butch Deverell will be hoping his run can continue on Tuesday in Devonport.
Rachel showed good speed to lead from box five and held her rivals clearly over the concluding stages to score at $21 to defeat Amy Cora ($3.70) by one length with $81 outsider Fernie finishing third in 29.80s.
The race favourite Wynburn Lethal failed to qualify finishing sixth.
“She is a different dog when she can get on the bunny,” said Deverell after the win.
“She has had a lot of bad boxes of late, and her confidence was down, but she had won two of her past four when she had drawn well,” added the winning trainer.
The second heat saw Hooked On Brenda ($4.20) who led all the way to score in 29.91s to defeat Lady Danger ($3.80) with the $2.80 favourite Maddie Zorro finishing third.
The box draw for next weeks final was conducted last night.

Wynburn Babe and Mac Duff
Tuesday in Devonport Deverell takes two runners including Wynburn Babe who lines up in the Put Your Quaddies on Grade 4 over 452 metres.
The Dyna Double One – Wynburn Arrow bitch has won three of her eight starts on the track with a best time of 25.49s, which she recorded close to a year ago.
It has been a while between drinks for Wynburn Babe who hasn’t won since 26 May.
“I just can’t get her right, I have found a couple of little things and today might tell, but it was a tough race,” said Deverell about the $10 chance with littermate Wynburn Dance from Box One opening the $1.30 favourite and looks an anchor for most punters quaddies.
Mac Duff in race nine is also at double-figure odds in the Ladbrokes Grade 5 where the Barcia Bale – Flying Roswell dog has drawn Box Eight.
“The draw suits him,” said Deverell with the chasers only win coming from the pink box on 17 March where he scored in 26.05s, it is the only time in nine starts that Mac Duff has finished amongst the placings.
The respected Deverell is happy with how his kennel is going of late.
“Most of the kennel is going alright, we are breaking a few young ones in, so it keeps us going,” said the trainer.
Tuesday’s 10-race card commences at 12:09.
