THE Devonport twilight gallop meeting at Spreyton Park today will proceed as planned despite a torrential downpour that fell in the region this morning.

Tasmania’s chief steward Wade Hadley called for a track inspection at 10.30am to determine whether the meeting could proceed.

“The track is in excellent condition and there is no surface water whatsoever, therefore the meeting will proceed as planned,” Hadley said.

“Obviously if the rain continues during the meeting we will have to keep reassessing the situation,” he said.

The track has been downgraded from a Slow 6 to a Heavy 9.

The first race is scheduled to start at 3.41pm with the last of eight at 7.29pm.
