Another three heats of the Mitsubishi Spring Distance Medley will be the feature races on the cvard at the TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight.
The first round of heats were run over 600 metres last week while tonight’s heats are over 720m with the three heat winners from last week all drawing box one in their respective heats tonight.
Heat one is a tough affair with Able Lad, now prepared by Leigh Wood at Whitemore, one of the main chances.
Decembrist trained at Copping by Peter Phillips and Miss Hetti from the Penguin kennel of Butch Deverell also loom as top chances in an open race.
Heat two is a wide open race with the Sandie Elphinstone prepared Wynburn Jet and the Brendan Pursell-trained Side Com the two that are likely to vie for favouristism.
Heat three boasts three genuine winning chances in Posh Will (Sandie Elphinstone), Disney Bound (Robin Stocks) and Hollyheath (David Crosswell).
They will run into Harry’s Pick from the Leigh Wood kennel which has won here in 43.10 over the 720m distance and should be the one to beat with the abovementioned trio to battle out the minor placings.
The best bet apperas to be Kuusou Rumba in race three.
Kuusou Rumba, trained by Mick Stringer at Mangalore, was impressive in winning over 599m in Hobart at his first start in the state and ran a good second over 461m at the same venue last Thursday.
He will be fully tested by the Loretta Luttrell-prepared Silent Giggle which has struck a purple patch of good form.
The value bet on the card should be Sofia Elise in race eight.
She is trained at Richmond by veteran Margaret Rossendell. The bitch is well drawn and her form is consistent enough to suggest she will start favourite.
Her main danger is Catch a Wiff from the Lynden Nicholls kennel at Birralee – he resumed from a spell with a good win in brilliant time last week.
