QUALITY sprinter Topline Doovee has the chance to redeem herself for r6ecemnt failures when she steps from the inside box in tomorrow’s Dowling McCarthy Hankook Tyres Devonport Cup over 452 metres.

Topline Doovee bounced back to top form three stars back with an impressive win in invitation grade in Hobart and she has held that form by winning an invitation at her subsequent outing at Devonport before winning her Devonport Cup heat last week.

The Mick Stringer-trained bitch was last year’s outstanding performer in Tasmania.

She was named one of Australia’s top 10 sprinters when she was made a reserve in the Top Gun that is hand picked from the nation’s best short-course greyhounds.

She will wear the red vest and if she can gain a clear passage to the top turn then she will be the one to beat.

The bitch won her heat from box five after flying the lids and left her rivals in her wake.

But she will need to be righty on her game with Victorian and the fastest heat winner Gardam Prince on her outside in box two.

Gardam Prince is prepared by master trainer Darren McDonald who had the dog set for the Hobart Thousand only to finish well down the track in a heat but he could not have been more impressive in winning his Devonport Cup heat in the slick time of 25.66.

Topline Doovee’s kennel mate CradocPark was the second quickest heat winner, stopping the clock at 25.80 in defeating Crime Fighter in the very last stride.

Rulla Shaw won his heat carrying the pink vest and he has again drawn box eight but he will have to improve his time dramatically to be a serious contender.

Accounts returned top form with his heat win but his time was way off the mark.

The Anthony Bullock-trained Sting has found best form at the right time and while drawn awkwardly in box four he is a chance at odds.

Shunted is the only other interstate invader to make the final and while drawn the squeeze box (5) he is a tough and a good beginner, so if he flies the lids they will know he’s about at the business end of proceedings.
