BRIGHTON greyhound trainer Brendan Pursell knows how hard it is to produce winners so it came as no surprise that he was more than pleased to have ended up with two wins and as many seconds from the four dogs he took to Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last Thursday night.
Pursell opened the night with a win courtesy of his lightly raced pup I’ve Got You leading throughout to take out the Butch Deverell Juvenile over 461 metres.
I’ve Got You had been close up at her three previous outings but had raced without much luck, albeit through her below average box manners.
However, she began brilliantly this time to find the front from box six and she was too strong for her rivals fighting off challenges from minor placegetters Straight Arrow and Lucy Loop.
I’ve Got You was a drifter in the market easing from $8 to start $13.60.
One Man Army notched his second win inside a month with a game display to run down the in-form Buckle Up Sharky.
Pursell’s handy top grade performer Bain’s Lane was not disgraced in finishing second to Senor Slamma in the invitation race and Despicable Craig was a game second to Izon Scumpa Lulu in a grade four.
