TASMANIAN trainer Troy Blacker will saddle up his first runner in a Group 1 race on Saturday courtesy of his stable star Dream Pedlar earning a berth in the $2.5 million BMW Caulfield Cup to be run over 2400 metres.
Dream Pedlar goes into the race on the back of an impressive win in the JRA Cup over 2040m at Moonee Valley last Friday week.
That followed an encouraging performance in the Naturalism Stakes (2000m) two weeks earlier at Caulfield in which he finished sixth behind Caulfield Cup favourite December Draw but beaten only 3.35 lengths.
Blacker says he has Dream Pedlar in great shape for his first Group 1 assignment.
