Former Victorian trainer Paul Hili will be looking for his first Hobart win with his super quick speedster Black Nitro (R9) in a heat of the Easter Plate at Elwick tonight.

Hili recently relocated his operations from Victoria to the North Eastern town of Loira and Black Nitro brought up his first Tasmanian winner with a best of the night performance 29.57 in Launceston a fortnight ago.

This son of Bombastic Shiraz has won five at Sandown and from the red tonight he should continue on his winning way.

Paper Trail and Sandbanker should be taken in the multiples. Zavance Man (R10) continues to impress and Monday night’s win at Launceston made it win number seven from eight starts.

Trained by Ted Medhurst at Mangalore this son of Head Bound who won the Maiden Thousand in February looks like developing into a super chaser and will be very hard to toss.

Tree Bandit looks his only threat. His sister Emerald Lee (R8) fresh from her Breeder’s Classic win should anchor the treble and quadrella while Mick Stringer’s New Recruit (R7) is back in form and should take out his heat of the Easter Cup.

Best Bets: R8 No 2 Emerald Lee, R9 No 1 Black Nitro, R10 No 7 Zavance Man.

Best E/W: R1 No 7 Bet On Black, R4 No 6 Collyn Tiger, R5 No 8 Custodian.
