THE greyhound Easter series continues at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight with the Easter Purse final for juveniles and heats of the Easter Cup for grades 1-3 chasers and Easter Plate for grades four and five.
The Easter Purse heats were run last week and tonight’s final promises to be a keenly contested event over 461 metres with impressive heat winner Hey Franklin likely start favourite despite drawing awkwardly in box five.
Only 14 nominations were received for the Easter Cup with seven runners in each of the heats (races 5-6).
In-form sprinter Star Chamber looks set to make it a hat trick of wins in the first Cup heat. The Ted Medhurst-trained dog will start from box one and should only need to mirror the form that took him to victory last week to emerge triumphant with the Brendan Pursell-trained Bain’s Lane the logical danger from box eight.
Smart sprinter Hellyeah Bolt looms as the likely winner of heat two (race 6) as he has a good record on the Hobart track winning 10 of his 20 starts around the U-bend circuit.
From box seven he only needs to jump with them to be in a winning position at the top turn.
There are five heats of the Easter Plate from races seven through to 11.
