ELITE ENFIELD would have to be one of the most underrated greyhounds in the state.
The Graeme Barber-trained dog made it two invitation wins in the space of four days when he gave his rivals a galloping lesson in Hobart last night (Thursday).
That followed an equally impressive win in Launceston on the Monday.
Elite Enfield has been contesting all the feature races on the calendar this time in with his record of 16 wins and 15 minor placings from only 42 starts testament to his ability.
This latest win was impressive as he met a couple of smart ones in Smichols and Start Chamber who were both coming off impressive wins in invitation races.
Elite Enfield began well from box four and after a battle with Smichols (5) and Posh Fire (8) he slipped clear and went on to score by over four lengths from Star Chamber with maximum Carly over a length away third.
While Star Chamber copped a severe check near the home turn that almost turned him sideways, he recovered quickly and had Elite Enfield in his sights at the top of the home straight.
But he was unable to take any ground off the winner in the run to the line.
