QUALITY bitch Emerald Lee returned to her brilliant best to take out the invitation race over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night (Thursday).

It was Emerald Lee’s first run for almost four months.

She finished last in an invitation race over 515 metres in Launceston on March 21 in which she was checked numerous times and later found to have suffered a minor injury.

Trainer Debbie Cannan took her time in bringing her kennel star back to racing and the rest has obviously done her the world of good.

Emerald Lee began well from box eight but not as quickly as Franklin Bluboy that flew the lids from box one and held sway to the top turn with Emerald Lee hot in pursuit.

They wheeled the home turn together but when Emerald Lee secured the rails run she forged clear and went on to defeat Franklin Bluboy by 2-1/2 lengths with Got Beer Goggles four lengths away third.

Emerald Lee stopped th4 clock at 26.04 seconds which was a personal best.

Emerald Lee has been a star for Cannan winning multiple juvenile features as well as an Illingworth Classic that she claimed last year defeating super star Jethro.

Emerald Lee has had 29 starts for 17 wins and eight minor placings with this latest win taking her stake earnings beyond $50,000.
