LONGFORD trainer Dianne Ray-Luttrell struggled to hold back the tears when her four-year-old gelding Rollinginthedeep won his maiden at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last night.

Rollinginthedeep led all the way to score comfortably from Mundine and Sheza Fatty Boomba with the favourite Must Confess a close-up fourth.

The gelded son of Azavedo settled well for apprentice Rasit Yetimova who allowed his charge to roll along at a steady pace to the homer ttn.

When he called on the gelding for the supreme effort over the last 200 metres he found plenty and was extending his lead on the line.

It was the gelding’s first win from only four starts but as his trainer explained he was lucky to even make it to the races.
