In Brief

  • Excite Enough seeking back-to-back wins.
  • Distance suits Callinan's well-bred middle distance chaser.
  • It's a Wonder the big whisper on the 10-race card.

IN-FORM greyhound Excite Enough will be out to make it successive wins when he contests the Jared Davies Carpentry Vet’s Medley Series Final over 599 metres in Hobart tonight.

The Ian Callinan-trained dog comes off an emphatic win over 599 metres in Hobart last week in a Medley series heat but the Jared Davies Carpentry Grade 4 final over the same distance will be the testing material for the son of Barcia Bale-Princess Roman.

Excite Enough has drawn box five and comes up against the Debbie Cannan-trained It’s a Cruise that has won it’s past two, with one of those over 599m two starts back and Anthony Bullock’s Dewana Whatever has a victory over Excite Enough two starts back over the trip and he has drawn ideally in box eight.

But if Excite Enough, which is owned by Jack Jury, can begin quickly, and find the lead, he could have enough stamina to keep the more favoured ones at bay.

If there was to be a boilover it could come from Enchanted Spirit (2) that has been placed second at three of his past four starts, one over 599m in Hobart behind Dewana Whatever and the another over 515m in Launceston.

The best bet on the 10-event card looks to be Kermaro from box one in the last on the program.

She has won eight and placed 13 times from 48 starts and has drawn her ideal box with Butch Deverell’s Harden Up Tommy (2) the most logical danger.

The big whisper for tonight’s meeting is the Debbie Cannan-trained It’s a Wonder, a dog by Mepunga Blazer from It’s a Dream that is reported to have trialed brilliantly and makes his debut from box two in race three, the Surepick grade five over 461 metres.
