VETERAN greyhound trainer Ted Devine will be hoping his well-bred pup Family Prince can deliver another stellar performance when he steps out in a semi-final of the HGRC Breeders Classic at UBET Park Hobart tonight.
Family Prince was in good form with a win and two minor placings prior to tackling his Breeders Classic heat and from box one he was able to lead in his heat and held on to defeat the highly promising Flat Out from the Brendan Pursell kennel.
Devine has been training for five decades and he part-owns Family Prince with his son Jamie.
Family Prince will start from box two in the second semi-final (race two) but he will need to be at the top of his game with the Ted Medhurst-trained Local View (7) also an impressive heat winner in a time of 26.34 compared to Family Prince’s time of 26.68.

Medhurst prepares the four fastest heat winners with retail Chart the slickest clocking 26.05 and he looms as the one to beat in the first semi-final (race one) from box three.
All of Medhurst’s heat winners are siblings from the Barcia Bale-Miss Roman Nose litter.
The other members of the clan to win heats were Miss Stylist and Keune that6 is arguably the best from the litter.
Keune won her heat in a time of 26.08 but she was resuming from a lengthy break that was enforced through a race fall at Devonport.
Keune has drawn box four in her semi-final (race five) and she would need to at least begin with them as she will be up against another very impressive heat winner in Belluci from the Neville Allison kennel.
The first two placegetters in each of the four semi-finals will progress to the final with the two fastest thirds to be named as reserves.
