FORMER Victorian dog Dirty Rich notched his first feature ace win in Tasmania when he led throughout to take out the Noel Vince Memorial over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last week.

Dirty Rich began well from box eight and once he crossed down to the rail he led his rivals a merry chase to go on and score almost two lengths from race favourite Hellyeah Bolt with Shanlyn Vapour over three lengths away third and just in advance of the winner’s litter sister Hannah Boden that is prepared by Gaylene Townsend.

Snaring the scalp of Hellyeah Bolt, one of Tassie’s best sprinters, is a feather in his cap.

Dirty Rich is prepared at Copping by Peter Phillips for Victorian owner-breeder Allan Lie who has recently sent three more dogs to Phillips.

The dog was originally sent to Mick Stringer who had immediate success but when he opted to downsize his training operation soon after the dog arrived he asked Phillips if he would take the dog and the rest is history.

Dirty Rich has won six since joining the Phillips kennel but it has taken some work to sort a few things out with the dog.
