TALENTED two-year-old pacer Delightful Christian has returned to Tasmania to prepare for the upcoming Breeders Crown series in Victoria.
Delightful Christian debuted in Tasmania with a win in Launceston but she was immediately dispatched to New Zealand where she was prepared for a lengthy feature race campaign by Brian Hughes
Her NZ campaign culminated earlier this month with a brilliant win in the $150,000 Jewels 2YO fillies’ final over 1609 metres at Cambridge.
Delightful Christian was purchased at the yearling sales in NZ by Wayne and Wendy McLaughlin and Barrie Rattray for $92,500.
The filly arrived at Rattray’s Longford stables last week and has settled in well.
Rattray said the plan was to either send her straight to Victoria from NZ or let her spend time at Longford where he can prepare her for the Breeders Crown.
Delightful Christian will run in a Breeders Crown qualifying heat in Launceston on July 22 that Rattray is hoping shed wins and then head to Victoria.
One of the main reasons he wanted Delightful Christian back in Tasmania was to allow the McLaughlins an opportunity to have a good look at the filly.
“By coming back to Tasmania Wayne and Wendy will have the chance to have a good look at her before she heads to Victoria and after that we aren’t sure what we’ll do but it is very likely she will go back to New Zealand where she will do most of her three-year-old racing,” Rattray said.
Delightful Christian will be prepared by Rattray for her Breeders Crown campaign.
