This is the biggest meeting of the year for the south of the state with the Ladbrokes Tasmania Cup being the feature of the night and a strong support card with the Derby and Oaks as well as the George Johnson for the mares being the other features.
The late Henry Pullen gets a race named after him which is great to see as he was an absolute gentleman in life but on top of that was a brilliant horseman in his own right, so I’m sure it will be a race many people would be thrilled to win.
The Cup will see local star Ryley Major looking to atone for his defeat last time and turn the tables on Im Sir Blake in what looks a great clash, but the race doesn’t end with those two.
The Oaks looks A Spanish Dance’ race to lose as she draws to lead and should give trainer Marc Butler the race to go along with the Derby he won with Joesashyguy many years ago when he was a youngster.
The Derby is a more even race with Victorian Beat City being the likely favourite but will face stiff opposition from the locals.
