We head to Hobart for a very competitive nine event card on Sunday where we see the first heat of the State’s feature race the Tasmania Cup where most of the States better pacers will be looking to qualify for the rich final in a few weeks. The Dean Braun trained Willie go West creates plenty of interest as has plenty of ability but he comes up against one of out most promising pacers in The Shallows which has been a great story of the last 12 months as it has put astute horseman back into the spotlight and looks very hard to beat after a good run when resuming last week.
The Trotters Cup is the other feature of the night and looks a very competitive affair where each runner has a chance where a have a slight leaning to Beau Garcon.
The best of the night comes up in the second heat of the Eric Reece Memorial where ex kiwi pacer Jaffa Josh comes across and looks to have found a good race to kick of his Australian career.
Call Me Hector showed his back to his best when doing plenty of work early then holding off a couple of handy types in The Shallows and Izaha in the run to the line.
Was great to see Eye See Double finally get some luck and win for trainer Ivan Belbin when he demolished his rivals after a very aggressive drive early by Sam Rawnsley.
