In-form Brighton trainer/driver Taylor Ford had a weekend she will not forget when she took out the Botra Junior Series and followed that up Sunday night with a 10 out 10 drive on The Thug who she also trains.

Gareth Rattray drove a quartet of winners on Sunday night which sees him charge into second place for the state drivers title behind Rohan Hillier with Ricky Duggan and Conor Crook also within reach, so it promises to be a great battle now that the harness season has been extended.

The first race at Launceston was one of the best stories of the weekend when former trainer Leigh Rand made a comeback to the training ranks after a 20+ year absence with Aussie Rock who was rated superbly for an all the way win by Todd Rattray.

We come to Hobart on Sunday which is the only meeting this weekend with a handy nine-event card.

The open class race is the highlight and with only a field of six it promises to be an intriguing clash with the Zeke Slater-trained duo of Blackbird Power and Full Speed Ahead looking to stop the dominance of Ryley Major.

The clash of Similan Beach and The Shallows looks another good contest with the latter looking to get back into the winners list.

The Todd Rattray-trained Delightful Junie looks one of the better bets on the card after coming up with a good draw.

A couple at odds that can run races are Believe in Forever in the third race, Our Percius in race four and Heavenly Rock in the last race of the card can also give a sight.

BEST BETS: Race 6 – 2. Delightful Junie, Race 7 – 5. Ryley Major

QUADRELLA: 4, 7 – 2, 12  – 4, 6 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10 $28 flexi 50%.
