VICTORIAN-OWNED bitch Fran Lee notched her first win on the Hobart track when she outgunned a handy field of juvenile performers over 461 metres on Thursday night.
Fran Lee (Pure Octane-Our Lee Portrait) showed brilliant early speed to lead from box one and when challenged in the home straight she dug deep to hold the well-backed Regent Meteor to a neck with Special Kiwi four lengths away third.
It was Fran Lee’s fifth win from nine starts and it took her stake earnings to just beyond $6500.
The Reg Dickenson-trained bitch began her career in a blaze of glory winning her first two starts at Devonport before winning her juvenile and grade five on the Launceston circuit where she also placed twice.
Dickenson is confident the well-bred bitch can win her way through her grades with her next outing likely to be in a grade five over 461 metres in Hobart next week.
