TASMANIA’S reigning premier reinsman Gareth Rattray could be out of the sulky for at least a month as a result of an injury he sustained at the Carrick meeting last Sunday.
Rattray was accidentally kicked in the left hand by a horse when he was leaving the Carrick venue.
He was taken to the Latrobe hospital but was later transferred to the Launceston General where X-rays revealed one of his fingers had been fractured so surgeons operated and inserted a wire in his finger.
Because he is a natural left-hander he won’t be capable of performing any normal day-to-day duties with the horses or anything else for that matter.
Rattray, who has won the past 10 Tasmania driver premierships, is second so far this season with 14 wins but nine behind Mark Yole who has had a brilliant start to the season.
