Top-weight in Sunday’s Group 3 Ladbrokes Hobart Cup is the Patrick Payne-trained Home by Midnight. Peter Staples caught up with Payne in an edition of From the Stables to discuss the seven-year-old’s chances of his first win on Australian soil.

“His first preparation in Australia he was coming off a long campaign and he didn’t really come up.
“When he got to 2000 metres at Caulfield fourth-up he ran really well.
“You would think now he’s getting towards peak fitness”.
