DELORAINE trainer Andrew Roach has set his sights on some feature races with his handy filly Frosty Blue following her game win at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last Thursday night.
Frosty Blue showed brilliant early speed to lead from a aide barrier and despite being pressured for the last 1000 metres by Billyfitsim she had just enough in reserve to stave that horse off over the concluding stages to win by a narrow margin.
Roach said the well bred three-year-old had only been in his stable for about three months but in that time she had shown enough to suggest she might be up to contesting some of the feature fillies’ races during the carnival.
“When I first got this filly she showed me a bit on the training track and her previous run here in Launceston when third to Stir Up was terrific because she was never better than three wide and kept giving at the end of the race,” Roach said.
“My only concern in this race was that she drew even wider than the last time but Talia (Rodder) was able to get her to the front and I thought she was quite courageous over the last 100 metres,” he said.
