We head up to the picturesque track of Burnie on Friday night for a seven event card. Ricky Duggan had a big night out last Monday night with a quartet of winner and is in enthralling battle with Mark Yole for the states driver’s title. Was great to see Pacific Soul get a well overdue win for his trainer Paul Medhurst.

RACE 1 :  7:10pm  IAN HEAZLETT MEMORIAL DIVISION ONE 2180M

This is a very open race to kick of the night’s racing. VITAL SIGN (6) was having his first local run when was hitting the line solidly. He draws to follow out a good beginner so if gets a crack at them will be very hard to hold out. COCCINELLA (3) continues to race well and will either work to the top or sit in the breeze which gives her a great winning chance. GANGNAM DANCER (4) will also look to push forward and can run the gate and is suited by the tight track so can win. BLUES ACE (1) has been racing well in easier company and draws to advantage as has the speed to hold if desired so is a must include at odds. MY MATE NICK (7) has been racing in career best form so if gets the right trip also has a winning chance. SIGN OF ORO (5) and MAJORAMA (8) have been racing well but draw poorly so place looks best. LUWAY LINNIE (2) is a first starter that draws ok so pay to watch the market.

TOP PICK: VITAL SIGN (6) looks hard to beat.

RACE 2 : 7:37pm DARWIN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION STAKES 2500M

This is a very tough C3 or better stand. LIKE IT IS (2) will find this a bit easier than his latest run. He has a good record around and is usually a safe beginner so will take plenty of running down if finds the top. LAST GUY STANDING (5) was spotted hitting the line strongly last week so if he can get a decent trip here will be thereabouts. PUSHKIN (9) has been racing well and if he can get into a handy spot has a great chance at good odds. PRETTYBOYTROY (4) can ping the tapes as well so if he was able to lob on top can give some cheek. KEAYANG RUSTLER (10) was well beaten at first local run but they did smash the track record. He is much better suited in this so expect him to improve. MUSSLEROE BAY (8) and NEONJET (11) have one the last two editions on the New Norfolk Cup so if they get the right trips will be dangerous. BERTILS DELIGHT (3) is a sneaky chance at odds. CATS AND DOGS (1) is the emergency who is a good hope if gains a run.

TOP PICK: LIKE IT IS (2) in a very tough race.

RACE 3 : 8:07pm DOWLING MCCARTHY MOBILE DIVISION TWO 2180M

This is another tough race. BERTILS BLISS (7) has been racing well and was hitting the line strongly last week. She will get a good run through so if settles handy will take holding out. BUCKINGHAM BOY (8) will follow her everywhere she goes so is sure to get his chance to get back into the winners stall. UDONTGETME (1) hasn’t had the best of luck of late. He draws to advantage so should be able to hold and will give a sight. JOHN PRESTON (3) will push forward early so if can get outside the leader will be thereabouts. OUR MAXICAM (5) has been a little disappointing this time in. He has a bit of a freshen up so don’t be surprised if improves sharply. HELLO PRINCESS (2) and GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS (6) are both capable of being in the finish.

TOP PICK: BERTILS BLISS (7) looks the hardest to beat.

RACE 4 : 8:37pm NICHOLS SOUND & COMMUNICATIONS PACE 2180M

This is another tough stand affair. BYMARJAC (5) is a consistent type at this level who has been racing well. He draws out wide so if he can ping away and settle on the speed will take holding out. LAUGHYAHEADOFF (3) is a track specialist who pings away so if she lobs on top she will give a great sight. YOUNG BRUISER (9) if you forget his last two runs and go on previous form he will take plenty of beating. MASTER CHARLIE (1) is another that has been thereabouts of late. He draws the pole so as long as he gets away will get every chance UNCLE BUZZ (2) , STRANGE CONDUCT (6) , FLYLIKA HAWK (8) and SUTTER MAN (10) are all capable of figuring with the right trips.

TOP PICK: BYMARJAC (5) will be the hardest to beat.

RACE 5 : 9:10pm BURNIE VETERINARY CENTRE STAKES 2180M

This looks a good race for the handy three year old ITZ GEMMAS DELIGHT (2). She will find this much easier than chasing the smart Chica Bella at her past couple. She did win a similar race here four starts back in where she pinged to the lead and won easily so she is the hardest to beat. BE GOOD FRANKLIN (3) has been racing well and has good stand start manners so he should be on the speed throughout so keep very safe. PARWILL (8) is the other winning form but is a query from the tapes. He will be hoping to begin safely then look to get around them at some stage and if does can be a danger. BUMBLE DON (6) , NEXT SOUND (7) and MONARCO PLAYBOY (9) are all proven from the tapes so are capable of figuring at  odds. TWENTYTHREERED (1) can sneak a place at odds with a safe beginning.

TOP PICK: ITZ GEMMAS DELIGHT (2) is the hardest to beat.

RACE 6 : 9:40pm NWTLHA MARES FEATURE 2180M

This is the feature race on the card in where all runners have some chance. JANE GRANT (2) is better than her past two starts. She will have to begin safely so if she can settle on the speed she will get every chance to get back into the winners stall. ODINS CALL GIRL (5) was very good last start and does have a good record on this circuit so if she can get past a few early will take plenty of holding out. SIGN NO MORE (6) has created a good impression since arriving to the Apple Isle winning her only two starts. It has been six weeks since her last run so that is a slight query but has to be include. BOUTIQUE ART (3) can ping the tapes and she has a chance of finding the top of 10m so has to be kept safe. MISS SHARAPOVA (1) was very good at her latest run when made two moves and battled away strongly. She will be hoping to begin safely and if she can show some grunt she can get away with this. JOAN GRANT (4) has been racing well so if she can settle handy has to be included.

TOP PICK: ODINS CALL GIRL (5) will be hard to beat.

RACE 7 : 10:10pm BP LIZA STORM 2YO 1892M

This is a four horse two year old to finish of the night. HERBIE HAZE (2) was good at his first run and is sure to be better for that. He did begin safely that night so if can do the same again he will be the hardest to beat. NANCES DELIGHT (1) is a well bred debutante from the Melissa Maine stable. She has trialled well enough to be winning this with a safe beginning. Stable mates MASTER DOC (3) and FREDS UNDER FIRE (4) have race experience on their side so don’t be surprised if they get up at good odds.

TOP PICK: HERBIE HAZE (2) is the hardest to beat.
