We come off a huge Easter Cup meeting last week where we witnessed some very emotional scenes from connections after the win of Riverboat Jasper. The combination of Kent Rattray and John Walters broke through for their first Cup win each as a trainer and driver, which was thoroughly deserved.

  • Williamtell set a new Tasmanian two year old for the mile rating 1:56.9.
  • Young reinswoman Samantha Gangell drove her first winner when she rated Blackjackhanover to perfection in front for a strong win.
  • Fleshing turned Oaks run around last week with a very impressive win in the three year old rating 1:57.9.

The track raced in brilliant condition last week with some sensational times being run so hats off to the track staff.

RACE 1: 5:39pm   NICHOLS SOUND AND COMMUNICATIONS THREE YEAR OLD 2200M

This promises to be a very competitive race for the three year olds. GLENENISE (7) is coming a very good fourth in the Tasmanian Oaks. She has drawn the top of the track which is not ideal but will be put into the race at some stage so will be one of the hardest to beat. KWIATKOWSKI (10) is a handy three year old who was good last time after plenty of work. He has drawn to get a good run through so will take plenty of holding out. KEN TWO STARS (9) continues to race well from bad alleys. He will be hoping push through early and settle in front of his major rivals so can win. DENZA DOOZY (3) is from the astute Rohan Hillier stable so will pay to keep safe and watch the market. IMPASSABLE (5) has been unlucky at his past two runs so when the luck comes his way don’t be surprised if he gets into the winners circle. TIMELY SOVEREIGN (8) is next best.

TOP PICK: GLENENISE (7) will take holding out despite draw.

SUGGESTED BET: GLENENISE $6 win IMPASSABLE $2 each way

RACE 2: 6:09pm IMPRESS PRINT STAKES 1680M

This will be another very good race. FLESHING (9) comes off a very dominant win last week in very good time. She will be hoping to push through early to settle handy over the short trip which will give her a great winning chance. CODE BLACK (4) has been sent over for next week’s Derby and draws to advantage. He is a very handy type who will look to push forward early so will get every chance to make a statement for next week’s feature. EL MAJOR (8) came here with a boom and look disappointing on face value despite them running good time. It was his first run for a month so I’m not prepared to write him off just yet. He draws inside the second row behind a noted speedster so if he gets a crack at them will take plenty of holding out. RIVERLEGIRL (6) , METRO MOUSE (7) , THIRLSTANE KING (10) and BUSTED (11) are all racing very well so if any of them won the race it wouldn’t shock. OUR MAXICAM (1) look’s the leader and did run them along last week he is suited back to the mile trip so can place at big odds.

TOP PICK: EL MAJOR (8) will be fitter so will give him another chance.

SUGGESTED BET: EL MAJOR/FLESHING $5 win

RACE 3: 6:39pm BEVAN LEES BUTCHERY PACE 2200M

Here we see another Derby contender going around in the very smart RYLEY MAJOR (7). He has returned in sparkling form and is really turning into a potential topliner of the future. He has been given no favors from the draw but I’m sure Rohan will look to push forward at some stage and dictate from the breeze or even the top if he is able to find it either way he is the hardest to beat. FUTURE PROMISES (4) is in career best form and did run second behind the likely favourite last time. He has drawn inside him here so if he can stay in front of him he will run a race. SIR DASHER DEE (5) has been good at two local runs to date in where his latest he never saw daylight. He draws tricky here so place is best. LACONIC JAMANE (9) resumed last week when loomed up until his condition gave way. He will strip much fitter so will run a race at odds from the good trailing draw. CEMENTO RAPIDO (2) and ONE MANS PASS (11) are capable of sneaking a minor place with the right trip.

TOP PICK: RYLEY MAJOR (7) is clearly the one to beat.

SUGGESTED BET: RYLEY MAJOR $10 win

RACE 4: 7:17pm YOLES RACING STABLES PACE 2200M

This promise to be a very competitive C1/C2. BISPING (10) has been racing very well without winning of late. He will be hoping to push through early so if he can around the breeze or the top is sure to take plenty of holding out. MULTIPLE CHOICE (1) is having first local run for Fingal based trainer Allister Woods. She comes here with some very good form and has been running quick times and has gate speed so should be able to make her own luck so will be a major player. THE BADLANDS (12) continues to race well. He draws out the back here so will to get into the race at some stage so has a good hope. BLACK SADDLE (5) was a very good winner last week after doing all the work. Sam Freeman drives him well so will be very hard to beat. WILLBE DOC (8) should get a good run through early trailing the likely leader so will be dangerous if the run comes. BERTILS DELIGHT (6) is a handy mare that has been racing ok so is a must include at odds. ME MATE LES (2) , RED SUN BLISS (4) and UNION FORCE (9) are all very capable of being thereabouts with the right trips.

TOP PICK: BISPING (10) will take plenty of holding out.

SUGGESTED BET: THE BADLANDS $5 each way

RACE 5: 7:49pm CHARTLEY ESTATE STAKES 2200M

This brings together a great field of C6/C10 pacers. QUEENS ADVOCATE (9) is coming off a very game run in last week’s Easter Cup. She has drawn to get a good run through early so will settle handy so then from there gets here chance to already built on her imposing record in the State. WINGATUI DEW (6) is another with an imposing record since arriving to the Apple Isle. He draws wide but will look to push forward early to take up his usual racing pattern but he will have to do some work but still has a great winning chance. JARUZELSKI LEIS (8) has done all the work at his past couple so will appreciate an easier trip here from his draw. He will look to get off the pegs at some stage so will be hitting the line strongly. MACHO COMACHO (5) is another coming out of the Easter Cup in where never had the best of luck so will pay to keep very safe. SAPPHIRE SWAYZE (10) is the query runner as is first up in the state for the astute Marc Butler stable. He is a handy sit/sprinter so with the right trip can be dangerous

TOP PICK: QUEENS ADVOCATE (9) looks very hard to beat.

SUGGESTED BET: QUEENS ADVOCATE & JARUZELSKI LEIS $5 win each

RACE 6: 8:15pm ELDERSLIE HORSE CARE PACE 2200M

This is the stand start claimer for the night. TISU TOOTA (4) will find this much to his liking than last week’s race. Last week’s Easter Cup winning reinsman John Walters will be hoping to ping him away to find the top as if he does he will be the one to beat. OUR ARCHANGEL (1) has been racing very well since been taken over by Melissa Maine so with a safe getaway here will be a major player. RAJAH WEALTH (10) is a tough type who can do plenty in his races so if he can get around them early may prove too strong for them. PACIFIC SOUL (9) is another racing very well in this grade so has to be kept safe. BRAEMOOR (3) is the query as is having first start for Ben Yole so will pay to keep safe. PUSHKIN (6) and MELPARK MAESTRO (8) are next best. CATS AND DOGS (5) is one at odds that if was able to spear across to the lead can give some cheek as grows a leg in front.

TOP PICK: TISU TOOTA (4) looks the hardest to beat.

SUGGESTED BET: TISU TOOTA $6 win RAJAH WEALTH $4 win

RACE 7: 8:42pm JUBILEE BAKERY PACE 2200M

This is the last of the night. BLACKJACKHANOVER (5) is in career best form who loves to lead in his races. He will find it hard to get across here as there is plenty of speed drawn inside him but is still sure to take plenty of holding out. DEVIL OF TYNE (1) has the speed to lead and races best in front so I think will hold up so will hold the key to the race but is not overly strong if cops pressure so may even look to hand up to the right horse. KYLEASHA (4) is sure to be fitter for her first run back. She draws to push forward as well but is capable of doing work in her races so is a must include. BAROOGA BUSTER (7) is a tough one paced who gets John Walters back on board who seems to be able to get the best out of him so keep safe at odds. MY GREEK MATE (8) is well graded here with the claim and will be suited by a solid tempo so can be dangerous. XBOLT (3) and ONEMORELAUGH (6) are next best.

TOP PICK: KYLEASHA (4) is the hardest to beat.

SUGGESTED BET: KYLEASHA $6 win  MY GREEK MATE $2 each way
