BRIGHTON trainer John Luttrell was not surprised when his two-year-old filly Gee Gee Showgirl won the opening race on the 10-event card at Tattersall’s Park today and as the despised outsider in the small field of four.

Gee Gee Showgirl was sent out the despised outsider at $11,.40 while her stablemate Testa Gee Gee was heavily backed to start the $1.30 favourite with good money for last-start winner Bachelor Babe and some specking for the John Keys-trained Golden Aces.

Testa Gee Gee led with Golden Aces a close-up second to the home turn while Bachelor Babe and Gee Gee Showgirl raced alongside each other about four lengths astern.

Golden Aces dropped off turning for home leaving Testa Gee Gee in front but when Bachelor Babe launched her claim she was being hailed the winner but Gee Gee Showgirl kept coming and she proved too strong on the line to score from Bachelor Babe with Testa Gee Gee third.

Listen to what trainer John Luttrell had to say about Gee Gee Showgirl’s win.
