TALENTED two-year-old Geegees Brightstar ended his season on a high when he powered his way to victory in a 2YO Handicap over 1200m at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston today.

Geegees Brightstar (Wordsmith-Maybe An Angel) made it back-to-back wins when he accounted for a modest line-up scoring comfortably from Geegees Baritone with Crib Point a distant third.

The field raced in mist and fog that hovered over the track making visibility from the grandstand limited until the horses hit the home turn.

Geegees Brightstar is trained by Rod Seymour who confirmed after the race that the gelding would be sent for a spell.

Jockey Brendon McCoull was delighted with the win and suggested the gelded son of Wordsmith could develop into a very good three-year-old.

The winner and runner-up are owned by Paul and Elizabeth Geard whom also bred the pair.
