HELIKE gelding and 2014 Hobart Guineas winner Moonless returns to Hobart on Sunday to try to replicate his February heroics.

A maiden prior to his stakes winning victory, Moonless has been in consistent form so far this preparation over less suitable distances, but returns to the 2100 metres of Hobart with plenty of positives.

Coming off the back of a gallant display in the Tapeta Distance Final over 1880m, the Ken & Tanya Hanson trained four-year-old will relish the extra distance on his return to the turf surface of Hobart.

Longford trainers Ken & Tanya Hanson earmarked this race early on, and a bold showing could be a guide to the horse’s summer plans.

“Although he hasn’t been winning, we have been pleased with how he has been performing” said co-trainer Tanya Hanson.

“We wanted to test him over an Open class field in preparation for this event and although he is up against some proven horses we expect to run well”.

Multiple premiership winning jockey Brendon McCoull will take the reins for the first time on the four-year-old gelding.

“It’s always a good sign when Brendon calls up for the ride and we were more than happy to put him on” she said.
