IT isn’t often a giveaway makes it to the racetrack let alone score an impressive win but such was the case with Dance Till Dawn at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
Dance Till Dawn is prepared at Longford by Bill Ryan and the three-year-old filly delivered a performance that would suggest there are more wins further down the track
The filly settled in the leading group and for most of the race travelled outside of the leader Calamalu.
When jockey Lincoln Coffey called on the filly for the supreme effort at the top of the home straight she sped clear and then staved off a determined challenge from the well-backed favourite Gee Gees Snowhill.
Dance Till Dawn failed a vet’s test at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and the future looked glum for the daughter of Umatilla.
But when the filly’s breeder Armidale Stud offered her as a give-away Ryan and his co-owners opted to “giver her a try”.
