POPULAR stablehand Chelsea Goodrick has been paid a bonus by Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Goggin courtesy of her lightly raced four-year-old gelding Packedtotherafters winning a Class 1-Maiden over 2100 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
With Victorian rider Michelle Payne in the saddle, the Adam Trinder-trained gelding stormed home from well back in the field to defeat Stacey Ann and Sh’bourne Tameeka.
Goodrick has been a regular strapper of Charlie Goggin-trained horses for many years so when Goodrick said she was looking for a horse to race Goggin ended up giving the gelding to her in lieu of her hard work and loyalty to the stable.
Packedtotherafters had been promising to win a race but the gelding’s waywardness had been a constant annoyance to both trainer and owner but Payne was able to get the most out of the five-year-old son of Savoire Vivre over the concluding stages to grab victory in the shadows of the post.
